The Miami Heat are now potentially looking to trade Nikola Jović, according to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.
“It has also been suggested that Miami could look now to move Nikola Jović to try to acquire some shooting to help space the floor for Antetokounmpo and his new frontcourt sidekick Bam Adebayo.”
The reasoning is rooted in Miami’s reshaped roster. By acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from Milwaukee, the Heat added significant frontcourt depth, making a forward like Jović more expendable than he was a week ago.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo anchoring the frontcourt, Miami’s clearest need has shifted to perimeter shooting that can keep defenses honest. Antetokounmpo has long been at his best surrounded by floor-spacers who open driving lanes, and pairing him with shooters rather than overlapping frontcourt size is a logical next step.
Jović, a skilled forward Miami drafted in 2022, offers size and playmaking but does not provide the high-volume outside shooting the new roster construction calls for. Moving him to bring in a knockdown shooter would address the team’s most pressing fit question.
Any move would also come with the Heat managing their finances carefully after a blockbuster trade that sent out salary and draft capital. Still, the logic is clear: with frontcourt depth secured, Miami can now prioritize the spacing that will help its new stars thrive.
