The Phoenix Suns appeared to be a top contender—on paper, at least. Phoenix boasted stars Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
The Suns also had some solid role players on the roster, like Mason Plumlee and Royce O’Neale. They also had a player with a lot of potential in Bol Bol.
Still, despite this talent, the Suns only managed a 36-46 record. This placed them 11th in the Western Conference, as they missed the Play-In tournament.
This sort of failure is quite shocking, but new reports suggest it may have come from a toxic locker room.
DeMarcus Cousins, who played alongside Kevin Durant in Golden State during the 2018-19 season, recently dropped a bombshell on the Suns’ season. Cousins appeared on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back and claimed Phoenix saw multiple locker room fights during the season.
“There was a couple of fistfights,” Cousins said. “There was a lot going on that obviously carries over to the court.”

Is Cousins telling the truth? That remains to be seen. What we do know for a fact is that the blame does not fall on the shoulders of Kevin Durant.
The two-time NBA champion had a stellar season. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.
What makes Durant’s season even better is the fact that he shot 52.7% from the field and 43.0% from three. Durant will likely be moved, all that remains now is to see which team decides to trade for him.
