Report: Suns ‘Specifically’ Talking Kevin Durant Trade With Rockets, Heat, Timberwolves

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Phoenix Suns are “specifically” talking to the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves about a Kevin Durant trade.

Durant is open to getting traded to the Rockets and Heat. He doesn’t want to get sent to the Timberwolves.

A future Hall of Famer, Durant can’t control where he goes since he doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.

Durant has one year left on his contract. The team that trades for the 15-time All-Star will have his Bird rights.

A two-time Finals MVP, Durant appeared in 62 games for the Suns this season. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the foul line.

A top 75 player of all time, Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He hasn’t gotten past the second round of the playoffs since leaving the Warriors in the summer of 2019.

Along with the Heat, Rockets and Timberwolves, Durant has been linked to the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors in trade rumors.

The Spurs are “not going to go all in” to acquire Durant.

“Well, it’s again the question of does Kevin change his stance on any of the teams not on his list. Now, I keep making this distinction,” Sam Amick of The Athletic said on Sactown Sports 1140. “My understanding, like you have the list and that’s like the thing his camp chooses to leak to the media. And then you have like the real stuff where what Kevin is telling people.

“And we’ve come across some of that stuff and there’s reason to believe he’s looking at San Antonio above the rest. Now, as you know Dave because you and I lived it with the (De’Aaron) Fox trade, we just saw how the Spurs had zero intention or willingness to give up anything on their roster, let alone anybody in their young core.

“I don’t know that that has changed all that much. The way it’s put to me, they’re not going to go all in to get Kevin.”
