According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Phoenix Suns are talking to the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat and New York Knicks about a Kevin Durant trade.
Durant will not be back with the Suns, who missed the playoffs this year.
Shams: “There is traction around trade scenarios for Kevin Durant and there are some teams that are motivated to get this deal done sooner rather than later. This could be something that lingers, closer to the NBA draft, could you get it done a day or two before June 25” pic.twitter.com/wER0rswRaG

The Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of this year’s playoffs, the Spurs missed the postseason, the Timberwolves lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the conference finals, the Heat were swept in the first round and the Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the conference finals.
Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract. The superstar small forward will make $54.7 million next season.
A future Hall of Famer, Durant turns 37 in September. The four-time scoring champion averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Thunder, Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team in 2022.
KD won two championships and two Finals MVPs with the Warriors. However, he hasn’t gotten back to the NBA Finals since leaving Golden State in 2019. Durant has been swept in the first round of the playoffs twice since departing the Warriors.
A league source told Hoops Wire that Durant prefers the Suns trade him to the Spurs so he can play with All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox.
