The Minnesota Timberwolves currently own the first-overall pick in the 2020 draft, but it appears they're trying to gain another high pick in an effort to prepare for the future.
According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, the Timberwolves are interested in acquiring a second lottery pick. They've had discussions with the Atlanta Hawks regarding the sixth-overall selection, and a possible deal could include the 17th overall pick and Jarrett Culver.
It won't be easy for the Timberwolves to pry the sixth pick from the Hawks, though. O'Connor reports the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans also are interested in that selection.

A number of teams are interested in Atlanta’s #6 pick—the Pelicans and Celtics being among them, sources say.
There's growing belief that Minnesota will select LaMelo Ball with the No. 1 pick, and they'll likely want someone strong to accompany him in the lineup, hence why they're interested in adding another pick within the top 10.
Besides Ball, O'Connor reports that the Wolves are interested in Iowa State guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is projected to be selected within the top 10 in most NBA mock drafts. With big man Karl-Anthony Towns already in the mix, it's no surprise Minnesota is looking to add talent elsewhere.
If they wind up with the sixth-overall pick, the Celtics won't be too happy as it's being reported they're targeting USC Trojans star Onyeka Okongwu, who could be selected within the top 10.
At this point, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. With no clear-cut superstar atop the draft this year, anything could happen.
