The Utah Jazz will be looking to put their disappointing campaign behind them and start fresh. And to make that happen, the front office will first need to sort out the roster. Interestingly, back in 2025, the Jazz did not look keen on extending Walker Kessler’s contract. Surprisingly, as per a recent update, the 24-year-old is now all set to re-sign with the Jazz.
According to reports from ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Kessler is expected to land a lucrative deal. He is well on his course to earn approximately $25-$30 million annually donning the Utah colors. Bontemps also pointed out that neither Lauri Markkanen nor Jaren Jackson Jr. is a full-time center. This makes a strong case for the 24-year-old to re-sign with the team.
“Given that neither Jackson nor fellow big man Lauri Markkanen is a full-time center, Kessler remains an important player in Utah’s path back to contention in the Western Conference. The consensus is that Kessler is signing a new deal with the Jazz in the range of $25 million to $30 million a year,” wrote Bontemps.

However, there were no confirmed details about the 7-foot-2 star’s exact contract. Now then, if the reports are true, Jazz will have their frontcourt sorted. With the trio of Kessler, Jackson Jr., and Markkanen combining, the team can hope for a better run in the upcoming season.
Especially when Kessler had quite an impressive season this year.
Kessler had the opportunity to suit up in only five games this season. But he did have an immediate impact on the team, to say the least. Displaying his impressive basketball skills, the Georgia native dropped averages of 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Looking at his shooting, the 24-year-old also impressed in that aspect of his game. From the field, the former round 1 pick shot 70.3%. Additionally, he also shot 6 of 8 from deep.
Meanwhile, as things look rosy, AJ Dybansta expressed his interest in joining the Jazz. Thus, with a lot of variables to consider, Utah looks to be a pretty busy team in the offseason.
