Rockets vs. Lakers – 2026 NBA Playoffs: Game Preview and Injury Updates (Apr 29)

Coming into the postseason, not a lot of critics wanted to give the Los Angeles Lakers a chance. Playing without the likes of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the purple and gold brigade were severely shorthanded. Surprisingly, four games in, JJ Redick and his team are leading the series with a 3-1 margin. And while the team has received mixed updates for Doncic and Reaves, the spirits are certainly high. 

Following game 3, the Lakers wanted to finish things off in game 4. Unfortunately, losing 115-96, they will have to wait a bit longer to set up a date with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Recently, echoing the locker room confidence, Deandre Ayton issued a stern warning to his opponents. Claiming to guard 1 through 5, all eyes will now be on Ayton to see if he can live up to his promises. Additionally, Redick’s team also has a 41-year-old LeBron James making merry with his elite performance. 

On the contrary, the Rockets’ team is looking a bit lackluster. Having lost Kevin Durant due to a sudden knee and ankle injury, things are looking quite rough for the team. While they will be looking to script a miracle comeback, the odds are heavily against them. Thus, with excitement peaking, fans will be eager to find out whether the Rockets can live to fight another day.
