Sacramento Kings player a victim of 'false positive' COVID-19 test?

On Friday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears reported that a Sacramento Kings player is expected to clear a two-day quarantine and feature versus the San Antonio Spurs on Friday following an inconclusive coronavirus test that provided what is commonly referred to as a "false positive" result.

That unnamed player reportedly tested negative on Thursday and Friday, which should allow him to return to team activities.

No NBA players housed at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex bubble site have returned a confirmed positive test result, which indicates the athletes are following health and safety protocols, and that those guidelines are working.

Alleged "false positive" tests have affected competitions such as the English Premier League, Major League Soccer, UFC, NHL and PGA Tour since sports returned amid the pandemic. Texas Rangers All-Star Joey Gallo became frustrated over returning positive and negative test results during spring training 2.0.

As ESPN's Graham Hays and Jeff Carlisle reported, Orlando Pride missed the NWSL Challenge Cup after what the club referred to as "inconsistencies from previous tests" failed to erase fears that the team suffered a virus outbreak ahead of the tournament.
