Brook Lopez is ready to get started as an LA Clippers player, with one teammate in particular exciting him about the prospect.
The LA Clippers have been one of the most active teams during this offseason. Steve Ballmer’s side has made sure to add pieces to their roster to compete for an NBA championship.
One of the big priorities for the Clippers was re-signing James Harden. Once they secured that, the team got to work on other stars.
The team made its biggest splash recently, as the Clippers traded Norman Powell to land John Collins in a three-team trade.
The Clippers also managed to sign Brook Lopez to a decent contract, swooping in and snatching him up before the LA Lakers could approach him.
Looking ahead to the new season, Brook Lopez spoke about the one player on the team he is excited to play alongside. And it happens to be the one player who plays the same position as him.
Brook Lopez attended the LA Clippers’ Summer League showdown against the LA Lakers. While speaking to reporters, Lopez praised Clippers center Ivica Zubac.
He congratulated the big man for his development over the years, and he will enjoy dominating the paint and the perimeter with the center on his team.
“He’s continued to grow each and every season… The sky is still the limit for him. There’s so much more he can do. So much more he’s capable of. He’s only just now scratching the surface.
“I think we complement each other extremely well. Obviously, we’ll be very big. I think we can be great defensively.
“Just dominating the paint… Offensively, we complement each other there as well. Spread the floor for him, give him all the room in the paint to go wild.”
Brook Lopez spoke about Ivica Zubac’s growth and also how they can look in double-big lineups:

It appears the LA Clippers might not be done when it comes to signings during this offseason. After trading Norman Powell, the Clippers need a starting-level shooting guard.
Luckily for them, Bradley Beal is set to agree to a buyout with the Phoenix Suns soon. After Powell’s exit, the Clippers were linked to Beal almost immediately.
Beal’s buyout with Phoenix has been held up due to a guarantee date that expires today. So he should be a free agent relatively soon.
The Clippers could do with adding a shooting guard who can replicate the scoring leap Norman Powell took last season.
If things go right for them this offseason, and Kawhi Leonard is healthy at the start of their campaign, the Clippers could be legitimate title contenders next season.
