After their season finale, Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks decided to end their partnership. Fans immediately lauded Rivers’ exit. But the move begs a question: Is Giannis Antetokounmpo the next one to go?
Truth be told, this iteration of the Bucks, even with Giannis, won’t cut it when talking about title contention. They finished the year with a 32-50 record, with the two-time league MVP playing in just 36 games – the lowest mark in his career. Will this be the last time we see Antetokounmpo in a Bucks uniform? He’ll have plenty of suitors in the offseason, which, according to Shams Charania, includes the Miami Heat.
“The Heat, Pat Riley, it’s clear around the NBA when I talk to rival executives: Pat Riley wants his whale, his shark, his tiger. They’ll be back in the Giannis [Antetokounmpo] hunt, and then whatever star they can find that becomes available to see, can we get that #1 guy,” Charania said.

The Miami Heat’s season came to a halt after losing to the Charlotte Hornets in the play-in tournament amid LaMelo Ball’s controversial play on Bam Adebayo. There’s no doubt that after another early play-in exit, Pat Riley would like to see major improvements for the team next year. They’ll have the assets for a Giannis trade, should they go all in.
Even though there were rumors that Giannis and Rivers didn’t see eye to eye, it seems the respect between the two has always been there. Right after Doc Rivers’ exit, the one-time champ was shocked when the news broke out.
“It’s a shock to me, but hey, he’s had 25 years as a coach, incredible coach. 15, almost 15 years as a player. He’s been in the NBA for 30, 40 years. He’s definitely an NBA legend. You know, he’s a Hall of Famer. It’s great to work with him. I haven’t heard something like that, but I got to go call him. I got to go see if that’s true,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said to Jeff Skversky.
The two were seen smiling and talking after the Bucks’ season finale against the Magic. Maybe their alleged feud is nonexistent? Surely enough, Giannis will be having a very interesting summer.
