The San Antonio Spurs have equalized their playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a dominant win in Game 6 on May 28 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Amid the tension, Spurs PG Stephon Castle made a claim that the Spurs proved with their Game 6 win.
The Thunder hosted Castle and his team for Game 5, and came out on top, winning the matchup 127-114. Though the Thunder had a great performance, Castle refused to concede the series. Per an X post by SpursReporter , Castle spoke on ‘NBA Showtime’ after Game 6, sharing what the Spurs believed.
“As a group we all want this. It’s right there in front of us and we feel collectively that we’re better than this team.”
Castle firmly believes that the Spurs are a better team than the Thunder. The fact that Game 6 turned in their favor makes his belief all the stronger.

The Spurs echoed their teammate’s sentiment, as they put up a very strong performance in Game 6, pulling off a 118-91 win against the defending champions led by the reigning two-time MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
San Antonio dominated for the entirety of the game, with a first-quarter lead of 13 points. Victor Wembanyama bagged 22 points in the first half, ending the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. He led the matchup in both points and rebounds.
In the post-match interaction, Castle spoke about how the home crowd’s expectations also pushed the Spurs to play harder.
“We didn’t wanna let our fans down on our home court either…”
Wemby was assisted by Castle, who led the matchup in assists, making nine to help the Spurs score. He was a weapon on the offensive, grabbing 17 points of his own, along with five rebounds.
With the home crowd satisfied, the Spurs now turn their attention to the series finale
The Thunder’s woes were palpable in Game 6. SGA and Co. could find no answer to the aggressive scoring from Wemby and the Spurs offense. The lack of a home crowd seemed to dampen their spirits, as the Spurs breezed past the defending champions.
The OKC faced a clear offensive slump, with SGA being restricted to a mere 15 points, a far cry from his playoff average of 28 points. The Spurs’ defense refused to let him dictate the plays, with blocks and steals galore.
SGA shot 0-for-5 from three-point range and only 33.3% from the floor.
While the OKC attempted to keep up in the first two quarters, the third quarter spelled disaster for them. The Thunder saw eight minutes of scoreless play. This stark offensive collapse allowed the Spurs to take advantage.
The third quarter saw San Antonio make 22 uninterrupted points, taking the score to 92-64 with under a minute left. The fourth quarter was needless, with the Spurs closing out the game at 118-91.
The Thunder will now host the Spurs on May 31 in front of a packed OKC home crowd at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
