It was supposed to be a ‘dog fight,’ as was correctly pointed out by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after the game. Getting some end-to-end action, the fans witnessed a Victor Wembanyama special as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. Coming to Game 1 of the conference finals, the Spurs had to toil hard to see off the Minnesota Timberwolves in the semifinals.
On the contrary, the Thunder did not drop a game in the playoffs. But as the game began, it was Wemby all the way. Logging in for 49 minutes, this year’s NBA Defensive Player of the Year exploded for 41 points with 24 rebounds and three blocks. Excelling in supporting play was Dylan Harper, who dropped 24 points after playing for 47 minutes.
For Thunder though, all eyes were on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Having won the NBA MVP award for a second consecutive time, the expectations were high. And although the 2025 NBA scoring champion had 12 assists, he struggled significantly to drop only 24 points in 51 minutes. Thus, with the defending champions 0-1 down, fans will be eager to see if they can draw level next.
The odds will be updated later.
