Steph Curry was back in action for the Golden State Warriors on Friday after sitting out their last game.
Curry was in street clothes on Thursday in a 119-103 loss to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the front end of a back-to-back set for Golden State, and Curry, who is coming off a two-month injury layoff, was given the night off.
Curry was back on the court for Friday’s matchup against the Sacramento Kings. He got his first start since January, registering 11 points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals and two triples in 27 minutes of action.
Curry’s return was not enough to help lead the Warriors to victory, though. They suffered a 124-118 loss to the Kings, marking their second straight defeat.
More importantly, Curry tweaked his right ankle during the game. It did not seem serious, though, and it is not expected to affect the former back-to-back MVP significantly.
True enough, the Warriors have submitted their injury report ahead of Sunday’s final regular-season game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The good news for Curry is that he is not on the list. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, the 38-year-old guard should be in action on Sunday.
It is worth noting, however, that Draymond Green is listed as questionable to play due to left low back injury management.
The Warriors enter Sunday’s contest with a 37-44 record. They are locked for the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference heading into the play-in.
The Clippers, though, are tied with the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 8 and 9 seeds. The result of Sunday’s game between the Warriors and the Clippers will have a significant impact on who Golden State will face in the play-in tournament.
