The Golden State Warriors enter the 2025-26 NBA season with championship aspirations but also questions tied to age, roster turnover and salary‑cap construction.
The team finished 48–34 last season and reached the Western Conference semifinals, then made targeted veteran additions to shore up depth, acquiring veteran center Al Horford and bringing back guard Gary Payton II and Jonathan Kuminga.
However, expectations ultimately hinge on franchise star Steph Curry sustaining All‑NBA level production.
As the Warriors gear up for their season opener, the NBA took a moment to highlight Curry and an exclusive list he is set to join this upcoming season.
Curry is one game away from becoming the 10th player in NBA history to spend 17 or more seasons with a single franchise and the seventh to play his entire career with one team.
The other six players are Dirk Nowitzki (21 seasons, Dallas Mavericks), Kobe Bryant (20 seasons, Los Angeles Lakers), Udonis Haslem (20 seasons, Miami Heat), Tim Duncan (19 seasons, San Antonio Spurs), John Stockton (19 seasons, Utah Jazz) and Reggie Miller (18 seasons, Indiana Pacers).

Curry, 37, was drafted No. 7 by the Warriors in 2009 and has remained in Golden State ever since. Across his career, Curry has averaged 24.7 points, 6.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 1,026 games, shooting 47.1% from the field and 42.3% from 3-point range on 9.3 attempts per game.
He is a four-time NBA champion, two-time league MVP, 11-time All-Star and 11-time All-NBA honoree. He holds the all-time record for career 3-pointers (4,058) and ranks 24th all-time in scoring (25,386).
The Warriors will open at the Lakers on Oct. 21 in a marquee matchup that pits Curry against LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Los Angeles’ revamped roster.
Early preseason reports show Golden State managing minor injuries: Jimmy Butler has experienced an ankle tweak in late preseason, and Draymond Green sat out due to rest, but both are expected to be available for opening night.
