The Warriors' Game 4 109-106 win over the Rockets at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Monday had a rare feature: a technical foul called on star guard Stephen Curry.
The play came in the second quarter, with seven minutes to go in the half. Rockets instigator Dillon Brooks committed a hard foul on Curry out beyond the 3-point line, and after Curry hit the floor, a fracas between the teams ensued. Both Brooks and Warriors big man Draymond Green were hit with technical fouls, but Curry was, too.
The referees apparently found that Curry was taunting Brooks on the play, from the floor. The two went face-to-face thereafter.

The Rockets were physical with Curry all evening, and limited him to 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting. But, Curry said, the technical foul was a bit of a stretch on the part of the game officials.
As Warriors beat reporter Anthony Slater of The Athletic wrote on Twitter/X: "That's Steph Curry's sixth playoff technical ever. First since the 2019 playoffs. He stuck two fingers up at Dillon Brooks after his second foul and officials deemed it a taunt. Double T on Brooks/Draymond after."
Curry explained after the game: "That was so stupid because he had did it literally the play before. I just returned the favor. But they didn't see him. They saw me. It's like siblings, the second one's going to get in trouble. That was me."
Curry, though, praised the Warriors for keeping their poise in a game the Rockets clearly tried to muddy by being extra physical.
"Every game has been physical, there's been moments," Curry said. "You expect two teams to not like each other at this point. Four games in, physical series, every game is just a battle. It's what you expect when everybody's competing at a high level.
"You don't want the antics to distract from the game. I think we did a good job of bouncing back in the second half, not letting those type of episodes really get under our skin at all, and channel that energy in the right direction. That's what a good team can do, and we did that in the second half."
