Stephon Marbury explains his beef with LeBron: 'I lost all respect for LeBron James when he disrespected my brand'

Former two-time NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury has been on the "warpath" against LeBron James lately. In recent weeks, Marbury has been busy making rounds in various NBA-related podcasts, and the best quotes from his interviews have been those against "King James."

On Saturday, "Starbury" went to the social media platform X to respond to accusations that he is spreading hate propaganda against LeBron because he is jealous of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

"I lost all respect for LeBron James when he disrespected my brand that was helping the people in Akron, Ohio. It's been and will be up for life. So it's okay; you will learn to deal with it," wrote the retired guard on X.

LeBron diminished Marbury's product

The brand that Marbury is talking about is "Starbury," a company that the former Knicks point guard founded in 2006. "Starbury" teamed up with Steve & Barry's to come up with a $15 basketball sneaker for people who can't afford the expensive brands.

Before the Cleveland Cavaliers' March 28, 2007 game against the New York Knicks, LeBon was asked by reporters about Marbury's $15 sneakers. Being the Nike endorser that he is, "The King" talked about "Swoosh's" high standards and the great quality that comes along with its more expensive kicks. Marbury responded with his iconic 'I'd rather own than be owned' line, and the two have been beefing since then.

"I've done nothing wrong by saying what I said," he added. "I forgave him; now it's just examples. LeBron comes off as corny to me. He's a follower, and he wants to fit in. I've known him since he didn't blow his nose properly and had phlegm on the side of his face. Relax; you people have me all twisted."

Marbury has been asked about LeBron lately

This summer, everyone noticed that during the Paris Olympics, LeBron snubbed Marbury while giving Carmelo Anthony and other friends sitting at courtside high-fives while celebrating during Team USA's gold medal game against France. Stephon did not talk about the snub but he criticized how LeBron got the Olympics MVP trophy over Steph Curry.

"They gave the MVP to the wrong player," Marbury wrote"I get LeBron is the King to many, but let me say this: when you give him what he doesn't deserve, you basically say that because of what he's done, he should receive such a high honor on the biggest stage. No, he didn't earn it this time."

Many thought that was the end of it. But in the past month or so, Marbury has been guesting on many podcasts, and at each stop, he has been asked about LeBron. With old wounds reopened, Marbury has taken one shot after another at "King James." We haven't heard James return fire, as he's never really responded to Marbury before.
