The Golden State Warriors were looking down the barrel just a few weeks back. With Stephen Curry out with his injury, the fans pleaded for his comeback right away. Finally, when the NBA icon returned, he made sure his team was on course for a miraculous run. And having defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, head coach Steve Kerr had a hilarious comment for Adam Silver.

The Warriors finished 10th in the regular season. Back in the old days, this wouldn’t have been enough for the team to qualify for the postseason. But in 2020, Silver introduced the play-in rule through which Kerr and Co. are still alive in the league.

Speaking about the same, Kerr said, “I want to thank the league for creating the play-in tournament. Thank you, Adam.”

This was a sarcastic take, as the play-in rule had faced significant criticism since its inception. Prominent stars like Luka Doncic questioned its fairness while Dallas Mavericks’ Mark Cuban termed it as ‘an enormous mistake.’

Nonetheless, as the format is now yielding rich returns for the Warriors, the team grabbed it with both hands.

The Clippers hoped to defeat the Warriors and continue their NBA campaign. However, even before the game commenced, head coach Tyronn Lue warned his team about the 4-time NBA champion’s threat. Indeed, that is exactly how things panned out. Logging in for 36 minutes, the 2022 NBA Finals MVP dropped 35 points to guide his team to a 126-121 victory.

But Curry was not alone. The likes of Gui Santos and Kristaps Porzingis, too, chipped in with valuable 20 points each. And if that was not enough, Al Horford’s 14 points further sealed the deal for Golden State. Thus, moving on to their next assignment, fans would now like to see what’s next.
