Suns' Chris Paul ruled out for Game 1 of Western Conference finals due to health and safety protocols

Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul has been ruled out for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Clippers due to health and safety protocols.

The Suns announced Wednesday that Paul would be sidelined indefinitely. He reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 despite receiving the Pfizer vaccine in February.

The 36-year-old is averaging 15.7 points, 8.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game this postseason. His best performance of the playoffs came in Game 4 against the Nuggets when he put up 37 points, three rebounds and seven assists.

Game 1 between the Suns and Clippers is scheduled for Sunday afternoon. It's unknown if Paul will be available at some point during the series.
