The Suns are filling their open two-way contract slot with another big man, having claimed Drew Timme off waivers on Monday. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype first reported the waiver claim ( via Twitter), while John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 (Twitter link) confirms that Phoenix has converted Timme’s Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal.

A college star at Gonzaga, Timme went undrafted in 2023 and made his NBA debut with the Nets near the end of the 2024/25 season before spending most of ’25/26 on a two-way deal with the Lakers. The 6’9″ power forward appeared in a total of 36 regular season games for Brooklyn and Los Angeles, averaging 5.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 13.6 minutes per contest.

An effective scorer around the basket, Timme put up 23.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 4.8 APG in 21 outings (32.2 MPG) for the South Bay Lakers in the G League last season, shooting 54.5% from the floor and 76.9% from the line.

After his two-way contract with the Lakers expired, Timme was with the Timberwolves this fall on a non-guaranteed training camp deal but was cut on Saturday as Minnesota set its regular season roster.

Because today is the last day to convert an Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal, Phoenix was able to claim him and immediately make that corresponding transaction. Timme joins Duop Reath and Pat Spencer as the Suns’ two-way players. The team waived Koby Brea and CJ Huntley earlier in the day.

Timme will be eligible to appear in a maximum of 50 NBA regular season games while on his two-way contract, which will pay him a total of $678,882 if he’s not waived before the league-wide guarantee date in January.
