PHOENIX — While Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker didn’t win this year’s NBA 3-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend, he doesn’t expect the performance to be his last.

With the 2027 All-Star Weekend set to return to Phoenix and the festivities coming back to the Valley, Booker has another opportunity to redeem himself on his home court.

Booker came close to winning it all this year, advancing to the final round alongside Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel. The Suns’ star started strong and needed at least 29 points in the final round to tie Lillard. He made a late push but fell short as Lillard captured his third 3-point contest title.

“This one hurt a little bit,” Booker said after the All-Star Game. “I wanted this one bad. I wish I was defending it in Phoenix, but it’ll probably be the last time I do it next year if I get the invite, so I’m looking forward to it.”

If Booker participates next year, it would mark his sixth — and, according to him, likely final — appearance in the competition. He previously won the event in 2018 in Los Angeles, setting a then-record score in the final round.

Just a day removed from All-Star Weekend, Lillard has already shared his hope for next year’s 3-point contest, including Booker in the mix once again.

Booker alluding to finishing his 3-point contest career on his home court would give Suns fans one more opportunity to see him compete on one of the league’s biggest stages — and potentially win it all in front of them. With national attention on the event, the Phoenix star raising the trophy at the end of the night would mark a defining moment for himself and the city.

If Booker steps onto the rack again, it would represent his career and the city intersecting — and a chance to finish where he feels most at home.
