As the NBA enters the offseason everyone has their eyes on the ongoing saga between the Phoenix Suns and their star forward Kevin Durant.
After missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Suns are expected to make some massive changes to their roster this offseason, including likely moving on from Durant as they try to rebuild their roster around Devin Booker.
Of course, Phoenix took offers for Durant at the trade deadline but ultimately elected to keep him on their roster, but that is not expected to be the case this summer.
With Durant likely on the move, there have been many teams linked to the future Hall of Fame forward and ESPN’s Shams Charania provided a major report on the situation on Thursday.
“The Suns have a price threshold that they want met in a trade for Kevin Durant and I had one team tell me today it's a game of chicken right now,” Charania said. “The (Houston) Rockets, (Miami) Heat, and (Minnesota) Timberwolves are literally one or two pieces away from getting a deal done.”

This is a massive report by Charania as it appears these three teams are closing in on a trade for Durant, though other teams, like the San Antonio Spurs, could also get involved.
The Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant's preferred trade destinations out of Phoenix, sources tell ESPN. Of course, it was reported by Charania that the Spurs, Rockets and Heat were Durant’s preferred landing spots this offseason while he does not want to end up with the Timberwolves.
Despite this, it is ultimately the Suns’ decision as they try to acquire the largest trade package possible to help their rebuild.
While that may be the case, it seems as though Phoenix has no leverage in a potential Durant trade and they could end up having to lower their asking price for their star forward to get a deal done, especially before the 2025 NBA Draft.
