The Miami Heat Reportedly Don't Want To Trade Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry is a former All-Star point guard, notably being part of the Toronto Raptors' 2019 championship-winning team. As of now, Kyle Lowry is on the Miami Heat and is currently averaging 12.9 PPG and 5.6 APG for the team.

Some previous reports have suggested that the Miami Heat will be willing to trade Kyle Lowry. However, a recent report from Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald revealed that the team isn't actively trying to move him, with his report also mentioning that it is "unlikely" that the team will break up its roster.

With the Heat playing a lot better — 13 wins in its past 19 games — any thought of Miami “breaking up its roster” has gone from not totally inconceivable to unlikely.

It also lessens the chance of the Heat moving Kyle Lowry, something that would be difficult to achieve anyway because of his age (36) and contract ($28.3 million this season, $29.7 million next season). While a Lowry deal cannot be ruled out, one league source said Miami is not trying to deal him.

Though Kyle Lowry is definitely heading toward the end of his career, he still has some value as a veteran presence and floor general on the roster. It is clear that the team understands what he brings, and it makes sense that they aren't trying to trade him at this moment.

Los Angeles Lakers Are Interested In Acquiring Kyle Lowry

If Kyle Lowry does hit the trade market, he will likely command some interest from other teams. A recent report revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers are a team that could try to get Lowry from the Heat.

“The Heat are notoriously tight-lipped about their plans,” Zillgitt wrote. “But around the league, it’s believed the Heat are willing to shed Kyle Lowry’s contract, which pays him $29.6 million in 2023-24. The Heat, who reached the Finals in 2020 and the conference finals last season, are 21-20 and in eighth place. Lowry is another player who has been linked to a potential deal with the Lakers, and Minnesota sending D’Angelo Russell to Miami for Lowry would net the Heat an expiring contract.”

There is no doubt that Kyle Lowry could potentially be a good fit for the Los Angeles Lakers. He is a steady ballhandler that could potentially do well running the second unit with the team.

It remains to be seen if the Miami Heat will change their stance on Kyle Lowry ahead of the trade deadline. Though he is a valuable player, few are untouchable in the NBA. We'll have to wait to see what happens in the future.
