Thunder Signing Jared Butler to Two-Way Contract
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

The Thunder are signing guard Jared Butler to a two-way contract, agent Mark Bartelstein told Adrian Wojnrowski of ESPN.

Butler, 22, is 6-foot-3 and appeared in 43 games with the Jazz last season as a rookie, averaging 3.8 points on 41 percent shooting. He has spent this entire season with the Grand Rapids Gold of the G League.

Originally selected by the Pelicans with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Butler signed with the Jazz in August of that same year. He was waived by Utah in October.

In 18 games with the Gold, he’s averaging 19.5 points and 5.2 assists, shooting 48 percent from the field and a sizzling 46 percent on 3-pointers.

Butler was a consensus All-American and was instrumental in Baylor winning the 2021 NCAA championship. He was named Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four.

In related news, the Thunder appear to have lost forward Kenrich Williams for the season, as we relayed here.
