The Thunder have some important offseason decisions ahead.
That much was always going to be true, whether they repeated as champions or not.
Now, after falling to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals, Oklahoma City must determine how it wants to proceed with several key veterans, including Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort and Kenrich Williams.
Based on recent comments, all three seem perfectly happy staying right where they are.
Williams didn’t leave much room for interpretation.
“It’s no secret that I want to be here until I’m done playing,” he told reporters. “Just the environment, the culture, the people that I work with every day.”
Williams added that Oklahoma City has become a place where he can simply be himself.
Hartenstein took a more measured approach.
The veteran center acknowledged that his future will largely be determined by conversations between the organization and his representatives. Still, he made it clear how he feels about the franchise.
“I love being here. I love the organization,” Hartenstein said. “Whatever happens, I’m truly grateful.”
Dort, meanwhile, sounded every bit like a player who hopes to spend the rest of his career with the Thunder.
“I want to stay here,” Dort said. “This organization, this city shaped me as a player.”
The longest-tenured player on the roster also expressed confidence in executive vice president Sam Presti and the organization’s long-term vision.
The challenge for Oklahoma City is balancing those desires with a rapidly growing payroll.
The Thunder won the NBA championship in 2025 and returned to the Western Conference finals this season, but several expensive decisions now await as extensions for young stars Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams begin to kick in.
The good news? At least publicly, the players don’t seem interested in going anywhere.
