Every basketball fan knows that Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players of all time.

Not only that, Curry has been the second-most popular player in the NBA behind LeBron James for the last decade.

So, it’s very rare that the Golden State Warriors legend can be described as “underrated.”

However, Tim Legler believes that people overlook one thing Curry does on the offensive end.

Tim Legler pinpoints Stephen Curry’s ‘really underrated’ skill

Tim Legler recently interviewed Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and analyzed a few specific possessions.

In one clip, Curry used a screen from Kevon Looney to get away from his defender and make a three-point shot.

Legler noticed that Curry slowed down to give the defender a false sense of security before sprinting away.

He explained that Curry does not get the credit he deserves for his movement before shooting the basketball.

Steph Curry is really underrated in this regard,” Legler said. “His ability to play slowly and get his body into a relaxed state, and then that quick burst.

“With Steph Curry, it doesn’t take a lot of separation, but it’s a subtle nuance to getting open off a screen.”

Kerr completely agreed with Legler and revealed that the Warriors often work on those small details.

“We teach this in practice frequently. We talk about all the nuances,” he responded.

How Stephen Curry performed in Warriors win vs Lakers

It’s a good sign for the Warriors that they still beat the Los Angeles Lakers without Curry playing his best.

Curry only scored 23 points on Tuesday after making six of 14 shots, including three of nine three-pointers.

Jimmy Butler led the Warriors to their opening night victory with 31 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield both provided 17 points each in an all-around performance.

The Warriors return to San Francisco on Thursday night to play against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
