This is not what the Timberwolves needed. Not now.
Anthony Edwards will miss multiple weeks after being diagnosed with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
The good news, if there is any? No ligament damage. The bad news? Edwards is out for a while anyway.
He suffered the injury late in the second quarter of Saturday’s Game 4 win over the Nuggets, landing awkwardly after contesting a layup. His knee buckled. He grabbed at it immediately. Not a great sight.

This comes after Edwards was already dealing with a nagging right knee issue entering the playoffs. Through four games, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists, though the efficiency wasn’t quite there.
And he’s not the only one.
Donte DiVincenzo went down earlier in the same game with a torn Achilles. That one hit hard.
“I feel completely devastated for Donte,” coach Chris Finch told reporters. “He was playing so well… the heart and soul of so many things that we do.”

So now what? Well, Minnesota still leads the series 3-1. And yes, Ayo Dosunmu just dropped 43 points out of nowhere.
“I didn’t know he was that damn good,” Julius Randle said.
Still, this changes things. The Timberwolves will try to close it out Monday in Denver — just without two of their best players.
