Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs is playing well in the Western Conference Finals, even though the team is down 2-1 in the series against the Oklahoma City Thunder heading into Game 4.
In his 12 games in the playoffs this season, Wembanyama is averaging 22.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and four blocks, as well as 31.2 minutes of game time, according to StatMuse.
Aside from his stellar performances, Wembanyama made headlines during the playoffs for getting ejected for the first time in his NBA career during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With 8:39 left in the contest, Wembanyama was handed a Flagrant 2 foul for excessive contact after elbowing Naz Reid.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards shared his thoughts about the viral moment. On Saturday, Edwards uploaded a video montage to his official YouTube channel, and it included his take on Wembanyama and how he felt when the player got the boot.
Edwards said it was hard to go up against Wembanyama and was honest about how relieved he felt when the player was ejected.
"It's so hard to beat them when he’s on the floor, just because of his defense," Edwards told friends in postgame footage posted on his channel. "Man, I was so happy that [Wemby] got kicked out. I hope they suspend him. I'm going to email the NBA right now."
So, Edwards was celebrating Wembanyama's ejection, but it was for all the right reasons. He knows a superstar when he sees one, and when Wembanyama is tripping up Edwards and throwing the seasoned player off his game, you know he's doing something right.
