Despite a shot at victory in regulation, the New York Knicks suffered a 113-109 overtime loss on the road to the Los Angeles Lakers to kick off their West Coast trip.
The Knicks saw yet another contender defeat them. They've struggled when taking on teams considered to be title contenders, especially the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder.
With recent losses to the Golden State Warriors and, now, Lakers, the Knicks continue to struggle against the league's best teams, as those two are red-hot and ascending in the Western Conference.
Once again, the Knicks' fourth-quarter offense wasn't enough, as they only added 15 points to their total, which led to overtime in the first place.
Not only did New York suffer yet another unfortunate loss, but superstar guard Jalen Brunson exited the contest late in the game with an ankle injury.
While the Knicks star shot his two free throws, finishing the contest with 39 points and ten assists, he then exited the game with a heavy limp.
After the contest, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau offered a quite simple update on Brunson and his injury status.
"He's being examined," Thibodeau explained.

The Knicks, just one day removed from the Lakers loss, head cross-town in Los Angeles to take on the LA Clippers.
While the Clippers aren't necessarily a contending team, they'll be tough to face without Brunson, should he be sidelined during the contest.
With a 40-22 record, the Knicks are certainly cruising as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, though they aren't in the best form right now as they look to solidify themselves as a contender.
