The Atlanta Hawks made one of the biggest moves of the NBA offseason by agreeing to trade former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a three-team blockbuster deal that also brought veteran guard Luguentz Dort to Atlanta.
While the trade immediately sparked debate across the league about whether the Hawks gave up on Risacher too soon, one reaction quickly stood out above the rest. Franchise star Trae Young weighed in publicly just hours after the deal became official, leaving a short but eye-catching comment on Risacher's Instagram post that instantly caught the attention of NBA fans.
The message shared a bit about the relationship between the two teammates and suggested Young was happy to see Risacher getting what he believes is a fresh opportunity elsewhere.

Not long after Risacher shared his farewell message following the trade to Dallas, Young jumped into the comments with a blunt response.
"My boy free!"
The comment quickly spread across social media after being shared by Legion Hoops, generating thousands of reactions from NBA fans.
Risacher also posted a heartfelt goodbye to the Hawks organization after spending his first two NBA seasons in Atlanta.
The French forward thanked the organization, teammates and fans for believing in him after selecting him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Atlanta's decision to move on from Risacher surprised many around the league, considering he is still just 21 years old and remains one of the NBA's intriguing young wings.
During the 2025-26 season, Risacher averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 45.5% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range across 67 games.
The Hawks ultimately chose to prioritize experience by acquiring Dort, one of the league's premier perimeter defenders, as they look to build a stronger roster around Young.
For Risacher, the trade creates an opportunity to continue his development with the Mavericks, where he joins a young core headlined by Cooper Flagg while hoping to earn a significant role heading into his third NBA season.
Young's comment also suggested there were no hard feelings between the two former teammates. Instead, it appeared to be a public endorsement of Risacher receiving a new opportunity after his role diminished during his sophomore campaign.
Whether the move proves beneficial for both organizations won't be known for some time, but Young's reaction made one thing clear: he'll be rooting for Risacher's success in Dallas.
