The sale of the Trail Blazers to a group led by Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon will be valued at roughly $4.25 billion, according to an updated report from Sportico’s Scott Soshnick and Eben Novy-Williams.
Sources told Sportico the price reflects two separate payments — one at the closing of the sale and another at a later date — with a “blended” valuation coming in above $4 billion. ESPN’s Shams Charania previously reported the valuation would surpass that mark.
Dundon’s group includes Blue Owl Capital co-president Marc Zahr and Collective Global co-CEO Sheel Tyle. The buyers plan to keep the franchise in Portland.
The Blazers went up for sale in May. Paul Allen bought the team for $70 million in 1988 and owned it until his death in 2018, when control passed to his sister, Jody Allen, as trustee and executor of his estate
