The Utah Jazz are building something special, and landing Ace Bailey is the first step to making that happen.
The Utah Jazz are currently a team in limbo. They have some really strong players on their roster, like Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton. But they are no closer to being competitive than they were a few years ago.
The Finnish star is currently stealing the show at the EuroBasket tournament, with Markkanen proving several critics wrong with his performances.
But with the Utah Jazz, he appears to no longer be the centerpiece. Instead, the Jazz drafted Ace Bailey with the intention of building around him.
There are many notable industry insiders who think the Jazz will trade Markkanen this season and focus on their young core instead.
Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy has quite the task on his hands, trying to figure out what the best rotation will be.
This is what the Utah Jazz lineup could look like next season:
Starting Lineup | Second Unit |
Keyonte George | Isaiah Collier |
Collin Sexton | Walter Clayton |
Ace Bailey | KJ Martin |
Lauri Markkanen | Kyle Anderson |
Walker Kessler | Kyle Filipowski |
The Jazz have some key veteran pieces whom they’re likely to move on from. In particular, Kevin Love is likely to be bought out by the Jazz.
And after Jusuf Nurkic was called out for being out of shape at EuroBasket, it could signal an end for him with the Jazz next season as well.
While Ace Bailey has shown tremendous potential with his performances at the 2025 NBA Summer League, he isn’t ready to transform this team just yet.
Furthermore, the Jazz will probably look to cash in on the value of stars like Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Walker Kessler.
With a youth movement going on in Utah, there is no need for established players on the team who might hurt the Jazz’s ability to tank next season.
It’s about time the Jazz commit properly to a rebuild, having wasted the last three years after blowing up their last competitive roster.
