Of all the very impressive numbers that the Valkyries have put up as the first month-and-a-half of their existence comes to a close, perhaps the most stunning of all is this: 180,640.
That's the team's attendance through 10 homes games, and it is significant for a few reasons. For one thing, it is the highest attendance of any team in the WNBA, and by a significant margin. For another thing, the Valkyries' sellout number is 18,064, which means that all 10 games were sellouts. In fact, according to AcrossTheTimeline.com, the season low for attendance at the Chase Center for the Valkyries is 18,064, the same as the season high for attendance.
In fact, the team posted on social media on Sunday, which saw another sellout crowd, "Tell your friends," with a graphic pointing out that Golden State is now 10-for-10 in sellouts at home.

And they're rewarding their fans. After a 2-5 start, as might be expected of an expansion team, the Valkyries have gone 7-2 in their last nine games, walloping Seattle on Sunday night, 84-57. The Valkyries got 21 points from Tiffany Hayes, but got their usual all-around effort from all over the roster, with nine players logging at least 15 minutes.
The game was notable not only for the performance on the court but for the electric atmosphere in the building. Regular Valkyries fan Brandin Podziemski of the Warriors was in attendance, but he brought a friend--yes, Stephen Curry was in the building, too.
The team has done well to rope in fans, at once giving a nod to the ever-popular Warriors while also forging its own identity in purple. The team's merch has been as much a success as ticket sales.
“To build something just as powerful, not underneath that, was the task,” team president Jess Smith told the San Francisco Chronicle. “What does the Bay Area want? What will make them rabid fans? They want something powerful, that’s how they show up. They expect you to be bold and make big decisions.”
So far, so good.
