Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs duked it out against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday, and while the Thunder are largely expected to take this series, by the looks of the first game, it won't be easy.
This matchup was neck-and-neck for the entire game, with the Spurs narrowly taking it in not just overtime but double overtime with a 122-115 final score. So, yes, don't count the Spurs out.
Now, these two teams will meet again on Wednesday for Game 2 of the series.
Wembanyama had an impressive game with 41 points, 24 rebounds, three assists and three blocks while being in the action 48-plus minutes. He's actually going viral for what he did before the matchup even started.
Before the game, Wembanyama went viral for one of his pregame rituals. In a clip shared on X by Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Wembanyama is spotted warming up with an assistant who's trying to simulate a player getting in Wembanyama's space.

Another one of Wembanyama's pregame rituals caught the attention of Nikola Jokić back in 2025. In a clip shared by the NBA at the time, Joker was shocked that Wemby brought a book to the NBA All-Star games.
"You really brought a book?" Jokić asked, looking shocked.
"Yeah. I read before every game," Wemby replied, to which Jokić is seen putting his face into his hands, not happy about it.
Considering that Wembanyama is one of the top players in the NBA at the moment, it's best not to question his pregame rituals. There's nothing wrong with reading a book before a game, so whatever works for Wembanyama, he needs to continue to do if the Spurs want to move on and get the final prize.
