San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has quickly become one of the most show-stopping athletes in the world and the most recent sale of his rookie card reflects this.
According to the Collectibles Guru, a Prizm Black 1/1 Wembanyama rookie card recently sold for a whopping $5.11 million. This makes it the fourth-highest recorded price ever for an NBA card and the most expensive recorded sale of a non-autographed NBA card.

The buyer, who remains anonymous, spoke to The Athletic and said they believe the value of the card will continue to increase over time.
“Cooper Flagg, for example. Or (someone who) didn’t pan out from a few years ago like when Zion Williamson came in and there was a lot of talk about him,” the buyer told The Athletic. “If you take all these players and you say, ‘What’s their ceiling?’ I think Victor Wembanyama’s (ceiling) is substantially higher.”
Wembanyama’s spectacular play this season has been the reason his cards have skyrocketed in price. He became the first-ever unanimous Defensive Player of the Year while leading the Spurs to a 62-20 regular season record.
He’s now got the Spurs in a tight Western Conference Finals battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder, just two wins away from the NBA Finals.
If they win it all, this $5.11 million card will likely rise even higher in price.
