Victor Wembanyama says he’s ‘impressed’ with the shots Carter Bryant is able to contest

Not only did the Spurs have the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, which they used to select Harper, but they also had pick No. 14 and they used that on Bryant.

Bryant has tremendous two-way potential as he can become a 3-and-D type of player for the Spurs.

Bryant’s offense was on display in the Spurs’ exhibition win over the Guangzhou Loong-Lions. He had 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field to go along with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal across 23 minutes of action.

Wembanyama talked about what he has seen from Bryant thus far.

“He’s very impressive, the shots he manages to contest.

“I mean, I knew he jumped high, of course, but I didn’t think he would be jumping this high off of not a lot of momentum.

“He doesn’t need a lot of momentum to jump high. He can be a huge presence.

“I guess his big challenge would be recognizing when and where to channel all this power and this energy, because once you’re up in the air, you can’t move anymore. It’s always the challenge for guys who can jump high.”

If the Spurs are going to rise up the Western Conference standings this season, it will be thanks in large part to Wembanyama, who is poised for a big year.

Wembanyama has fully recovered from a blood clot issue that kept him sidelined last season. Wembanyama spent this summer with NBA legends Hakeem Olajuwon and Kevin Garnett.

Bryant has now gotten an up-close look at Wembanyama and he can’t believe his eyes.

“Seeing him walk around every day, there’s no way this dude is real. On the court, he’s amazing, everybody sees what he is capable of.”

Wembanyama has already looked impressive during the preseason and it seems like he’s ready to break through as the next big megastar of the league.
