Victor Wembanyama grew up in Le Chesnay, a quiet town just outside Paris, raised by his parents Félix Wembanyama and Elodie de Fautereau. The NBA spotlight was a long way from that life.

Now he's heading to the NBA Finals, and the journey that started in a small French town has arrived somewhere remarkable. Saturday night in Oklahoma City told the whole story. Wembanyama was unanimously voted Western Conference Finals MVP after the San Antonio Spurs knocked out the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games.

He put up 22 points and seven rebounds in the 111-103 series-clinching win. Across the seven games, the 22-year-old averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.7 blocks in 37.7 minutes per game.

The numbers were dominant. What happened after the final buzzer was something else entirely.

Wembanyama and His Father Share Emotional Postgame Embrace

When the game ended, Wembanyama struggled to hold it together. The Finals now just four wins away, everything seemed to hit him at once. He spotted his father on the court and the two shared a long embrace, the kind that said everything without a word. Fans noticed immediately, and the moment spread fast.

"No matter how many awards he wins in his career, I guarantee this moment is going to be one of the ones he remembers forever," one fan wrote. "Hugging your father after reaching the NBA Finals is the kind of thing that's bigger than basketball."

Others felt it just as deeply.

"From watching your son get drafted to watching him reach the NBA Finals this is what it's all about. Proud father, proud son," another fan added.

"Man you love to see it," one fan commented.

"He so proud of his baby boy, he picked up up!! That's HIS baby!! Great job raising an amazing man Mr. Wembanyama!!!!! Merci Beaucoup Melessi!!!!!!!!" another fan wrote.

"Absolutely love this! That hug says it all, so proud for Wemby and Felix," another added.

The Finals are next. Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to carry that emotion straight into the biggest stage in basketball.
