Former NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson recently tipped San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama as the 2025-26 NBA MVP. Here’s why.
The 2025-26 NBA season is underway. Nate Robinson didn’t hold back from his NBA MVP picks, along with his beliefs on the young NBA stars who will define the NBA’s future.
“Victor Wembanyama will be fun to watch,” Robinson told mBit Casino. “Hopefully his game blossoms and he dominates in a way we’ve never seen — maybe win MVP and a championship. I think the Spurs will be fun to watch this year.”
The San Antonio Spurs center’s outlook entering the 2025-26 NBA season appears to be optimistic but with high expectations from the public. The Spurs center averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, along with 47.6% shooting from the field.
The France native is poised to win the 2025-26 NBA Defensive Player of the Year as the betting favorite. The odds implied between a 63-65% chance of victory if he stays healthy. His primary competition is reigning NBA Defense Player of the Year Evan Mobley, rising defenders Amen Thompson and Dyson Daniels, and Oklahoma City Thunder power forward Chet Holmgren.
Nate Robinson has faith in the 21-year-old, believing he’s on the verge of greatness. However, Robinson’s safe pick for the 2025-26 NBA MVP is a familiar face in Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
“I’m going to go with year 17 Steph Curry for MVP,” Robinson said. “He might come in and do something he hasn’t accomplished yet — maybe being the first person to shoot 50% from the field, 50% from three, and 90–95% from the free throw line. Something crazy like that. I’m rolling with Steph.”
When asked who else stands out in today’s NBA, Robinson praised both the veterans and the emerging stars ready to carry the torch.
“You’ve got KD, Devin Booker, James Harden — those guys are on the older side, on their way out. It’s been fun to watch their careers,” he said. “But right now, it’s the younger guys. They’re fun to watch, people are falling in love with them, and hopefully they make playoff runs like the Jordans, Vince Carters, and T-Macs before them.”
Robinson also mentioned Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards as another rising star: “It’s either him or Ant-Man. Ant’s right around the corner from stealing MVP from somebody. He’s a great player, young talent, fun to watch, and exciting. His interviews are always classic.”
Robinson closed with Timberwolves Kentucky product Rob Dillingham as a breakout candidate: “Hopefully he gets some minutes this year and becomes one of those young players ready to turn up in his sophomore year.”
