Warriors Get Concerning Update After Losing Game 2 Without Stephen Curry

Life is just different on the court for the Golden State Warriors without Stephen Curry.

While they survived Game 1 of their second-round series on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player exiting in the first half with a hamstring injury, the Warriors failed to follow that win with another on Thursday, as they clearly missed Curry's services in a 117-93 loss at Target Center in Minnesota.

Golden State's loss leveled the series at 1-1. Additionally, it worsened the Warriors' all-time playoff record in the Curry era to 1-4 in road games without him, according to StatMuse (h/t WarriorsMuse).

Curry is expected to be sidelined for at least a week, with no definite timetable for a return. Even if the Warriors win Game 3 and Game 4, which will both take place at Chase Center in San Francisco, Minnesota will still host Game 5.

The next three games in the series fall inside the aforementioned timeframe for Curry's absence, adding stress to a beleaguered Golden State squad.

Curry's shooting and ability to stretch the floor even without the ball in his hands is being missed by the Warriors, who shot just 44.7 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from deep in Game 2.

For now, Golden State will look for the likes of Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield to lead the team's offense, while Jonathan Kuminga can also mitigate the impact of Curry's absence. Butler and Hield had 17 and 15 points, respectively, in Game 2. Kuminga came off the bench and scored 18 points.

Game 3 is scheduled on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
