Warriors not budging on Jonathan Kuminga offer

The Warriors and forward Jonathan Kuminga haven’t had any discussions about moving back his October 1 qualifying offer deadline, league sources told Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

With that date fast approaching, Golden State seems content to hold its ground.

Per Fischer, the Warriors recently offered Kuminga a three-year, $75 million deal that includes a team option for 2027–28. Kuminga’s camp has pushed for a player option instead, but those talks have gone nowhere.

Meanwhile, the Kings made a late attempt to rekindle sign-and-trade talks for Kuminga. Golden State wasn’t interested in taking back Malik Monk, in part because of his $21.5 million player option for the 2027–28 season.

The Warriors’ stance is tied to long-term cap planning. The contracts of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green all expire in 2027, and the front office is intent on preserving as much flexibility as possible. Or so it seems, anyway.
