Once again, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry has made history. For the first time in his decorated career, the former back-to-back MVP has been named by USA Basketball as the 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year after leading the national squad to a gold medal win in the Paris Olympics.
The fact that USA Basketball sent a star-studded contingent led by the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant, to name a couple, to the Summer Games makes Curry's most recent feat even more impressive. The Warriors star rose above everybody else to lead the team to glory as Team USA secured a record 17th gold medal in the Olympics.
After USA Basketball made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, the Warriors wasted no time reacting to the big news. They quickly flexed Curry's incredible feat on social media.
"He Cooked ️" the Warriors posted on Instagram.
It is worth noting that this was Curry's first trip to the Olympics. The 10-time All-Star made it count, putting up averages of a team-high 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.3 minutes per game.
Arguably his most memorable moment in the tournament came in the dying seconds of the final quarter of Team USA's gold medal game against host team France. Curry sealed the win with a dagger trey, which prompted his famed "night night" celebration on the grandest of stages.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was the architect behind Team USA's historic run. He, too, was honored by USA Basketball by being named the 5-on-5 Coach of the Year.
Right now, though, Curry, Kerr and the rest of the Warriors are struggling in the NBA. They currently have a 23-23 record and are 11th in the Western Conference. Golden State will need to get their act together sooner rather than later if they want to contend for the title in 2025.
They are in action on Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are currently the No. 1 seed in the West with a 37-8 record.
