The Golden State Warriors will being the 2025-26 NBA regular season on the road on Tuesday night as they face off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a Western Conference showdown.
Of course, the Warriors enter the new season with high expectations as they are expected to be a top team in the West once again behind their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
Golden State also made some key additions to their roster this offseason after signing Jonathan Kuminga to a new contract as they signed Al Horford, Seth Curry, De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II in free agency.
By making these moves, the Warriors are looking to clinch a top seed in the West this season as they try to make another run at a championship.
While the Warriors will try to start their season with a victory on the road against the Lakers on Tuesday night, they received a positive injury update on two of their key players ahead of their season opener.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, both Butler and Kuminga will play in Tuesday’s season opener against the Lakers despite both dealing with ligh ankle inflammation.
Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga will both be available and play tonight for the Warriors when they open the season on the road against the Lakers, sources told @ClutchPoints.

This is a massive report by Siegel and one that bodes well for the Warriors as they will have both Butler and Kuminga available for Tuesday’s game.
For Butler, he played a key role in Golden State’s success in the second half of last season after they acquired him from the Miami Heat.
The veteran forward provided the Warriors with another reliable scorer, playmaker and defender alongside Curry and Green, which helped turn around Golden State’s season.
Last season, the 36-year-old forward averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 27.9% from three over 30 games with the Warriors.
Butler will now begin his first full season in Golden State on Tuesday night as he will play despite dealing with a lingering ankle injury and he should have a major role on both ends of the court for the Warriors.
For Kuminga, his role entering the new season is uncertain after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season, though he could be a key piece for them off the bench.
Last season, the 23-year-old forward averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.4% from the field and 30.5% from three.
When given the opportunity, Kuminga is a reliable scorer and a solid defender who could have a key role off the bench this season for the Warriors, especially with them signing him to a new contract in the offseason.
With both players available for Tuesday’s season opener in Los Angeles, the Warriors will try to pick up a key victory in their first game of the season over their West rivals.
Fans can catch Tuesday’s game between the Warriors and Lakers at 10:00 p.m. EST on NBC and Peacock.
