Four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson is ready for his second season with the Dallas Mavericks.

Thompson recently trained in New York with renowned basketball trainer Chris Brickley and the shooting guard put on quite the show.

Klay Thompson is one of the best shooters in NBA history. He’s fifth all-time in 3-point field goals.

A five-time All-Star, Thompson played in 72 games last season. He averaged 14.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 41.2% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 90.5% from the free-throw line.

A California native, Thompson will make $16.7 million next season. The former Golden State Warriors star turns 36 in February.

Thompson has career averages of 19.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Warriors and Mavericks. He will make the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame one day.

The Mavericks missed the playoffs last season after making the NBA Finals in 2024. Nico Harrison traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis and Max Christie in February. Thompson, Davis and Kyrie Irving only played in one game together.

Davis got injured in his Mavericks debut against the Houston Rockets and Irving tore his left ACL in March against the Sacramento Kings.

Dallas signed veteran guard D’Angelo Russell, who played with Davis on the Lakers, this offseason in free agency. Russell will start at point guard next season until Irving returns to the lineup.

The Mavericks drafted Cooper Flagg with the first pick in the 2025 draft. Jason Kidd’s group is expected to make the playoffs next season with Flagg, Davis and Thompson leading the way.

Harrison said on Monday in Las Vegas at Summer League that Irving is ahead of schedule in his ACL recovery, so the talented guard should play next season.
