Every die-hard NBA fan knows J.R. Smith the basketball player. It's time to get used to J.R Smith the college golfer.

In the latest episode of "My Passion" presented by the Whistle, J.R. Smith gives us the inside scoop on how taking a swing at golf has been going for him. The two-time NBA champion (2016, 2020) is thriving in his new role as student-athlete at North Carolina A&T State University.

Trading in the basketball court for the golf course has come easy for the natural athlete. After getting to play alongside the likes of LeBron James, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving during his incredible NBA career, Smith is just getting warmed up to golf.

The 36-year-old freshman is hitting the books for the first time since being drafted out of Saint Benedict's Preparatory School at the young age of 18. Smith is pursuing a degree in liberal studies, and feels North Carolina A&T State is the perfect fit for him.
