Watch: Jazz honor Donovan Mitchell in return to Salt Lake
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

A first-round pick of the Utah Jazz back in 2017, Donovan Mitchell will go down as one of the greatest players in franchise history when all is said and done.

The guard earned three All-Star appearances in his five seasons with Utah prior to being dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Mitchell is making his long-awaited return to Utah as his Cavaliers continue their west coast trip Tuesday evening in Salt Lake City.

Ahead of the game, the Jazz paid tribute to Mitchell with a pretty awesome video depicting the highs of his time in Utah.

Teaming up with Rudy Gobert during his tenure in Utah, Mitchell led the Jazz to a playoff appearance in each of his five seasons. The team also won 50 games or more twice during that span.

  • Donovan Mitchell stats (2017-22): 23.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 4.5 APG, 44% shooting, 36% 3-point

Last season saw Mitchell average 25.9 points en route to earning his third consecutive All-Star appearance.

It’s been even better for the still-young 26-year-old guard in Cleveland. He has the team at 26-15 midway through his first season with the Cavaliers. Mitchell also put up 71 points in a record-setting performance against the Chicago Bulls back on Jan. 2. Though, Tuesday is all about the guard’s return to his old stomping grounds.

“We did a lot of great things there. Obviously, we didn’t accomplish our end goal. But I had a lot of positives despite not winning a championship. That’s not easy. Only one team does it. We had five cracks at it, and we missed,” Donovan Mitchell on his Utah Jazz tenure.
