A normal timeline would likely have Durant back sometime in late March. However, Brooklyn wants to protect its franchise cornerstone after signing him to a four-year, $164 million deal back in July.
For their part, the Nets have struggled with Durant sidelined. They are currently 23-28 on the season and are the seventh seed in a top-heavy Eastern Conference.
