Amid a 10-3 start, the Golden State Warriors received their first bad news of the season. After missing two consecutive games with an ACL sprain, De'Anthony Melton will sit out the remainder of the 2024-25 season, per ESPN's Shams Charania . The veteran guard's absence leaves a void in the Warriors' rotation as Steve Kerr announced the update of the injury to a partially torn ACL.

Melton averaged 10.3 points on 40 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3. Although he only started two of six games, Melton's impact on the Warriors' offense and defense kept the veteran guard a favorite of Steve Kerr.

Kerr understood the importance of handling Melton's injury delicately and diligently. The Warriors head coach recently discussed the veterans' guard journey of nursing the MCL.

“He’s been seeking other opinions," Kerr said. "We’ve really been evaluating everything just trying to get him the best advice he can get. And we’re obviously very concerned… We’re really taking our time and making sure De’Anthony gets all of the advice he needs.”

The Warriors used the mid-level exception to sign Melton in free agency. On an expiring $12.8 million contract, Melton's recovery is imperative to the next deal he signs.
