The Denver Nuggets enter the NBA All-Star break on a high note after winning their eighth consecutive game on Wednesday.
Denver took down the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday 132-121 behind an incredible performance by their star point guard Jamal Murray. In the game, Murray scored a career-high 55 points on 20-36 shooting from the field and 7-15 from three-point range.
With this performance, Murray etched his name onto the list of the Nuggets’ best single game scoring performances. His 55 points is the third most in Nuggets’ franchise history. Of course, David Thompson holds the franchise record for the most points in a game with 73 followed by Nikola Jokic’s 56-point performance.

Murray has also recorded two of the three 50-point games in Nuggets’ playoff history.
At just 27 years old, Murray is already climbing the list of the best players in Nuggets’ history and he still has a ton of career left to go. He did have a rough start to the season shooting the ball, but he has turned things around over the past month, which has led to Denver’s recent hot streak.
This season, Murray is averaging 21.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 47.1% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range. While his numbers have dipped some from last season, the 27-year-old has heated up over the past few weeks, which is exactly what the Nuggets need.
With Murray and Jokic playing great, along with the rest of Denver’s rotation also producing, the Nuggets have won eight consecutive games and have continued to climb the Western Conference standings. The Nuggets currently hold a 36-19 record, which has them sitting third in the West, just a half of a game behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the second seed.
If Murray can continue to play like he has over the past few weeks, Denver will once again be a threat to come out of the West once the playoffs begin as they look to win their second championship in three seasons.
