The Indiana Pacers need all the help they can get in light of the barrage of injuries to Rick Carlisle's rotation. With the Houston Rockets hosting the Pacers on Wednesday, the recently signed center's arrival makes a difference in a frontcourt decimated by injuries. In a recent interview with the Pacers broadcast crew, Moses Brown stated what he brings to the game.
Brown recently played four games with the Westchester Knicks, averaging 18.5 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. Before playing with the Knicks' G League affiliate, the center spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2023-24 season.
The New York native played 22 games with the Trail Blazers. At 7-2, Brown can potentially deter opposing offenses from finishing at the rim. Moreover, his knack for grabbing offensive boards also shines from his height.
Brown understands what he needs to do as he is being "thrown to the fire," given the Pacers' desperate situation regarding their center depth chart.
“I’m just a high-energy player, looking to rebound, looking to get my teammates involved and be an anchor on defense," Brown said.
However, Brown's first assignment seems more like a hazing than a golden opportunity, as he will spend time guarding Rockets starting center Alperen Sengun. Sengun has the moniker of "Baby Joker" for valid reasons.
The Pacers' new center can earn Carlisle's respect as a rim-roller, which the championship coach adores in his role-playing bigs.
Brown has his head on tight and is saying the right things, but how will he play as the Pacers face the 10-5 Rockets?
