Why New York Knicks Should Have Quiet Offseason Despite Splashy NBA Rumors

The New York Knicks, this NBA offseason, have already been linked to some premier trade candidates. Both Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo would likely enjoy playing next to Jalen Brunson in Madison Square Garden.

However, the Knicks don't boast the future-driven assets needed to add either one of those stars, and their best course of action would be to improve on the margins.

With Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, and Mikal Bridges all under contract next season, the Knicks' best course of action might be to hold the line and run things back with the same roster.

Knicks Don't Need to Make a Massive Move

Despite failing to make the Finals for the 26th season in a row, the Knicks are poised to run the East next season. After Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard both suffered Achilles tears, the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks are expected to take a step back.

Young teams on the rise, like the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic, still have some improving to do before they are legitimate title threats, and the Philadelphia 76ers are also a massive question mark.

The Cleveland Cavaliers might shop Jarrett Allen, and it seems unlikely that they can crack the 60-win mark for a second season in a row.

With the Indiana Pacers being the only team with a proven track record of being able to best the Knicks, New York is poised for another deep playoff run, especially if the Greek Freak gets traded to a Western Conference team.

Despite all the disappointment that came with losing in the Conference Finals, the Knicks have a well-rounded starting unit, more depth than they get credit for, and plenty of hunger. Blowing up their roster after just a single season together would be very rash.
