The Golden State Warriors added Will Richard to the roster with the 56th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Initially, the No. 56 pick belonged to the Memphis Grizzlies, but the Golden State Warriors acquired it midway through the Draft.

The Dubs used the pick to welcome Will Richard to the team. The 22-year-old will now get the opportunity to play on the same team as Stephen Curry, which is apparently a dream come true for him.

Will Richard shares details about first meeting with Stephen Curry

The Baby-Faced Assassin is one of the faces of the NBA right now. Curry has had a huge impact on the modern era with his three-point shooting.

In the process, he has also become a favorite of many draft prospects, and Richard is certainly among them.

“For me, that was my favorite player growing up, him and Klay [Thompson]. That [meeting him] was definitely a top three moment in my life,” Richard said of meeting Curry on 95.7 The Game.

He added: “He came up to me, shook my hand, ‘Welcome to the Bay, we’re happy to have you and I’m excited to work with you.'”

What was the impact of Curry’s short message? Well, it sent a wave of motivation through Richard.

“That meant a lot, it’s motivation, to hear that from a guy that you grew up watching, grew up loving, grew up wanting to be like, that was definitely some motivation,” Richard revealed.

Will Richard’s NCAA career

Oftentimes, late second-round picks rarely manage to carve out a decent career in the NBA. After all, it’s the most competitive basketball league in the world.

But is it impossible to do? Certainly not. Especially for someone like Richard, who had a stellar four-year NCAA career with the Belmont Bruins.

Richard averaged 11.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game for the Bruins over 141 appearances while shooting a solid 46.3% from the field.

He also shot 35.5% from deep during his college career. Those numbers make him a solid shooter, and he will likely get better while training with someone of Curry’s caliber.
